Mocha brownies

Sea salted mocha brownies


  • 250g unsalted butter
  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 200g dark muscovado sugar
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 65g plain flour
  • 60g cocoa powder
  • 40g leftover coffee grounds
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • 4 large eggs, beaten

Makes 12


  1. Preheat the oven to 180˚C / 160˚C fan / Gas 4.
  2. Line a 32cm x 22cm baking tin with baking paper.
  3. Melt the butter over a low heat, add the chocolate, and stir well. Remove from the heat once the chocolate has melted and leave to cool.
  4. Place the rest of the dry ingredients in a bowl and gradually mix in the eggs.
  5. Once the chocolate has cooled, pour onto the flour mixture and mix well, then pour into the prepared tin and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and leave to cool before cutting into 12 slices.
